About The Bait Shelf

The Bait Shelf is a tackle shop built around one simple idea: anglers shouldn’t have to dig through a cluttered catalog to figure out what’s actually worth buying. We curate and rank the most popular crankbaits, swimbaits, jerkbaits, soft plastics, and everything in between, then link you straight through to where you can buy them — no wasted clicks, no guesswork.

Big Hoss, doing what he does best.

The Bait Shelf was started by Big Hoss, an angler out of the north Georgia mountains known for hauling in big bass and having strong opinions about which lures actually work. Tired of burning weekends scrolling through bloated tackle sites just to figure out which lures anglers actually wanted, he built the site he wished existed: fast, focused, and organized around demand instead of a wall of products nobody’s buying.

When he’s not on the water, Big Hoss has the truck stereo cranked to his favorite song — “We’re an American Band” by Grand Funk Railroad (1973). He’ll tell you it’s the perfect pump-up for a morning launch: “We’re an American band, we’re coming to your town, we’ll help you party down, we’re an American band.”

How Ranking Works

Every lure on the site is ranked by real demand. The ones anglers are buying up fastest — including the ones flying off the shelf entirely — rise to the top of each category, so you can see at a glance what’s actually worth grabbing before everyone else does.

No filler, no padding the list with things nobody wants. If a category doesn’t have anything popular right now, it just doesn’t show up on the homepage that day.
